Matthew Perry, an actor who starred as Chandler Bing on Friends, was found dead at his Los Angeles home on October 28. He was 54 years old.
His exact cause of death is unknown at the time of writing this report, but it is most likely caused by him passing out in his hot tub due to heat exhaustion and drowning.
Friends fans and co-stars alike have been grieving his death. Maggie Wheeler, who played Janice in the show, wrote on Instagram: “What a loss. The world will miss you Matthew Perry.”
Hours before he was found dead, Perry was reportedly playing pickleball near his house, but he quit playing because he was “fatigued.” He returned to his mansion while he sent his assistant to run some errands while he relaxed in his hot tub. When his assistant returned, she made the shocking and dreadful discovery that he had drowned in his hot tub.
Perry’s final social media post, with the caption “Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman.”
Perry went through an episode where he had a crippling addiction to drinking, almost dying from it. He went into a coma for two weeks, and after a long road to recovery, he helped others to recover from their addictions as well. Perry said he didn’t want to be remembered for his role in Friends, he instead wanted to be remembered for his road to overcoming his addiction.
